Kuwaiti delegation discusses boosting oil cooperation with Brunei

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 29 (KUNA) -- A Kuwaiti high-level oil delegation headed by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) Chief Executive Officer Nizar Al-Adsani discussed Wednesday prospects for joint cooperation with Brunei Darussalam.
This came during the delegation's visit to Brunei that included Chief Executive of Kuwait Petroleum international Bakheet Al-Rashidi and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) Ayad Al-Kandari from 26 to 28 November, Kuwait's embassy in Brunei told KUNA in statement.
This Kuwaiti visit is the first of its kind to Brunei to discuss and explore prospects for joint cooperation in the oil field, where the delegation held meetings with the most prominent oil institutions in Brunei, the statement said.
The delegation held meetings with the executive heads of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company, Brunei National Petroleum Company and Hengyi Company together with the Brunei government are undertaking a major strategic project to establish an oil refinery and a petrochemical complex in two phases.
Brunei is seeking to involve Kuwait in the second phase of this project, which its estimated cost about USD two billion, the statement added.
KPC chief executive invited the Brunei side to visit Kuwait in March to further explore oil investment opportunities available between the two countries.
For his part, Kuwaiti Ambassador to the Sultanate of Brunei Dr. Fahad Al-Dhafiri told KUNA that the visit comes in response to the official invitation from the Ministry of Energy of Brunei to the KPC Chief Executive to discuss the memorandum of understanding to establish a joint committee for cooperation which signed during the historic visit of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to Brunei last year.
The Brunei side expressed its satisfaction with the results of this visit and look forward to translate the ideas and proposals that were put forward during the visit and to meet the invitation to visit Kuwait. (end) aab.kns.ss
