Authorities on scene of explosion at east Alabama fiberglass shop

Authorities are on the scene of an explosion at a business in Randolph County.

No injuries have been reported, but all lanes of traffic near the fiberglass shop on U.S. Highway 431, according to the Alabama State Troopers.

Trooper Corporal Jimmy L. Harrell Jr. said troopers were notified at 10:20 a.m. of the large explosion by the Randolph County Sheriff's Office. "It appears everyone made it out of the building,'' Harrell said.

He said it's unclear how long U.S. Highway 431 will be close, and traffic is being detoured because of the firetrucks and other emergency vehicles blocking the road. He said fire officials are trying to determine if there is any threat of from potentially hazardous chemicals.
