Egypt takes part in negotiations aiming to confront the problem of plastic waste in an attempt to reduce the volume of plastic waste and promote circular economy practices in line with its vision of sustainable development, "Egypt 2030".
Ahmed Abd ElAleem, the Regional Head of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Plastic Bank, revealed that confronting the problem of plastic waste is at the top of the priorities of the whole world.
He pointed out that in cooperation with one of the international support companies, 500 million plastic bottles, equivalent to 10 million kilograms, were collected, which contributes to a change in the culture of society.
Regarding plastic waste recycling operations, the Plastic Bank Foundation was the latest development in the context of tireless efforts to provide a comprehensive environmental system in support of the circular economy, reduce the volume of plastic waste and improve the living conditions of the neediest groups.
A United Nations (UN) report indicates that reorienting economies away from plastic and then building the infrastructure to properly recycle the rest could cost $65 billion annually, and perhaps even more difficult is reaching an agreement to ban the manufacture of certain chemicals.
