SOFTBALL

• Sharon 16, Oil City 0 — At Oil City, the undefeated Tigers (14-0, 17-0) wasted no time on Thursday in picking up the Region 4 win over the Oilers (2-10, 2-10).

Sharon scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning and tacked on six more in the second frame.

Freshman standout Maddy Vogan led the way for the Tigers. She fired a no-hitter in the circle and blasted a three-run homer, singled, and scored three runs at the plate.

Vogan faced 10 batters and struck out nine. She issued no walks. She threw 35 pitches and 29 were strikes.

Mary Brown and Jordan Curtician both singled and drove in two runs for Sharon, Claire Bodien doubled, singled, and had an RBI, Dalaini Bayer doubled and scored three times, Lacy Root had an RBI double, Chloe Pagliarini ripped an RBI single, and Mya Bundrant doubled.

Nyssa Hanlon pitched for Oil City. She struck out five batters, issued three walks, and gave up 10 hits.

• Jamestown 13, Slippery Rock 4 — At Slippery Rock, Gianna Solderich had five hits and drove in three runs to power the Muskies (7-4, 8-5) past the Rockets (4-8, 4-8) in the Region 4 clash.

Miley Carter ripped a pair of singles and drove in two runs for Jamestown, Grace Wingard had two RBIs, Madilyn Enterline collected three singles, Alayna Cadman contributed two singles and an RBI, Katie King singled twice, and Brooke Wilkerson added an RBI single.

Jamestown ace Miranda Biles went the distance in the circle. She whiffed 11 batters, only issued one walk, and gave up seven hits.

Mia Sosa pitched for Slippery Rock. She had two strikeouts, four walks, and surrendered 17 hits.

Ciana D’Antoni smacked a home run, singled, and drove in two runs for the Rockets, Brooke Balint collected two singles, and Emma Ritz and Maddy Horner both singled and drove in a run.

• Corry 11, Hickory 6 — At Corry, the Beavers improved to 11-1 in Region 4 and 13-1 overall with the win against the Hornets (7-4, 7-6).

Alyssa Burlew singled and drove in a pair of runs for Corry and Payton McCray and Kendall Chamberlin both doubled, singled, and collected an RBI.

McCray pitched for Corry. She fanned 10 batters, issued four walks, and surrendered nine hits.

Lydia Hallas took the loss for Hickory. She had a pair of strikeouts, two walks, and yielded seven runs on six hits in three innings.

Hallie Miller led the Hornets at the plate with a solo home run, a double, a single, and two RBIs. Also, Hallas tripled, doubled, and singled, Jordyn Hanzelka singled twice, and Brooke Black drove in a run.

• Titusville 11, Grove City 4 — At Titusville, the Rockets (4-9, 5-9) scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back in earning the Region 4 victory.

Hannah Peterson tripled, singled, and drove in a pair of runs for the Rockets, Jordan Wynn and Eden Gray both hit two singles and had two RBIs, Kyra Atkins had three singles, and Kasey Krepps added a pair of hits and an RBI.

Wynn went the distance in the circle for Titusville. She fanned three batters, walked two, and gave up 10 hits.

Kara Kirk pitched for Grove City (0-13, 0-15). She fanned five hitters, issued one walk, and allowed 13 hits.

Brynn Hedglin led GC at the dish with two singles and two RBIs, Kirk collected three singles and an RBI, and Johanna Smiley doubled and singled.

• Wilmington 1, West Middlesex 0 — At New Wilmington, Ava Williamson hit a walkoff single in the seventh inning as the Hounds (6-2, 7-2) posted the Region 1 win over the Reds (5-4, 5-5).

Maggie Jewell started off the bottom of the seventh inning with a single and advanced to second on a bunt by Skylar Leishman. Williamson then drove in Jewell with a hit to left field.

The game was a pitching duel between Williamson and West Middlesex’s Kaylee Long. Both went the distance. Williamson struck out seven hitters, walked three, and gave up two hits. Long fanned six, walked one, and gave up five hits.

Williamson singled twice and drove in the game-winning RBI for Wilmington, Karah Deal doubled, and Jewell singled.

For West Middlesex, Kadence Leonard and Julia Thornton both singled.

• Sharpsville 12, Farrell 2 (5 inn.) — At Milliken Avenue Park in Sharpsville, Lily Palko belted a home run, tripled, and drove in five runs to lead the Blue Devils (7-3, 7-5) past the Steelers (1-7, 1-7) in a Region 1 encounter.

In the first inning, Palko crushed a three-run homer and a two-run triple as the Devils plated 12 runs.

Jordan Brest singled and drove in a pair of runs for Sharpsville and Haley White, Miah Applegarth, and Izzie Candiotti all singled and drove in a run.

Jordan Brest (two innings), Palko (1 2/3), and Emma Brest combined to throw a three-hitter. Each gave up one hit. The trio combined on eight strikeouts and three walks.

Maria Harrison hit a pair of singles for Farrell and Brooklyn Hughes had an RBI.

Harrison pitched for the Steelers. She struck out four hitters, issued four walks, and allowed nine hits.

• Mercer 22, Reynolds 1 (4 inn.) — At Transfer, the Region 1 leading Mustangs (8-1, 10-3) rolled past the Raiders (2-7, 2-7).

Mercer only led 2-0 after two innings, but the Mustangs plated nine runs in the third and 11 in the fourth.

Kailyn Adams homered, tripled, and drove in four runs for Mercer, Adison Foster hit three singles and knocked in four runs, and Angelina Eakman homered, singled, had three RBIs, and scored four runs.

Also for the Mustangs, Emma Stoepfel hit a pair of singles and drove in two runs, Lexie Walker ripped two singles and had an RBI, Phoebe Eakman and Pressley Washil both had RBI singles, and Madison Hackett was credited with an RBI.

Angelina Eakman threw an abbreviated no-hitter. She struck out 11 hitters and walked four. She faced 18 batters and 45 of her 78 pitches were strikes.

Madelyn Diefenderfer was the losing pitcher. She struck out six hitters, issued one walk, and gave up 11 runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings.

BASEBALL

• Lakeview 18, Jamestown 1 (3 inn.) — At Jamestown, Owen Dye  hammered a three-run homer in the second inning and finished the game with four RBIs as the Sailors improved to 10-0 in Region 1 and 10-1 overall on Thursday.

Cody and Lucas Fagley also had big games for Lakeview. Cody ripped two doubles, singled, drove in four runs and scored three times and Lucas had a pair of doubles, a single, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Also for the Sailors, Garet Guthrie doubled, singled, and had two RBIs, Brody Snyder doubled and knocked in a pair of runs, Maddox Bell doubled, singled, and had an RBI, Carsen Boitnott contributed an RBI single, and Jonny Husband had an RBI.

Chris Mong fired a two-hitter for Lakeview with five strikeouts and no walks.

With the win, Lakeview head coach Bill Beith picked up his 250th career victory.

Nolan Herbold took the loss for Jamestown (0-9, 0-10). He had one strikeout, three walks, and surrendered 14 runs on 11 hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Aidan Woyt singled and drove in the Muskies’ lone run and Herbold singled.

• Hickory 8, Neshannock 7 — At Neshannock Twp., Connor Stoyer scored on a fielding error during a pickoff attempt at first base and Luke Ference followed with a sac fly as the Hornets (4-7) scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning and held off the Lancers.

Hickory led 4-0 after two innings. Neshannock cut the lead to 4-3 in the third and took a 5-4 lead in the fifth frame. Hickory scored two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings while the Lancers plated one run in both of those innings.

Max Moreland singled and drove in two runs for Hickory, Ference and Joey Cidila both hit two singles and had an RBI, and Dom Uberti singled and knocked in a run.

AJ Reardon (4 2/3 innings), Jacob Sloan (1 1/3), and Sean Cummings pitched for the Hornets. The trio fanned four hitters, walked seven, and gave up seven hits.

Dominic Cubellis (4 2/3), Adam Rickel (1 2/3), and Jackson Latta split time on the mound for Neshannock. They combined on nine strikeouts, six walks, and eight hits.

Joey Veronesi doubled and had two RBIs for the Lancers, Adam Brigham singled and drove in three runs, Boyd Kurutz collected a pair of singles and an RBI, Cubellis doubled, and Gio Valentine had an RBI.

• Sharpsville 18, Franklin 3 (5 inn.) — At Franklin, Caullin Summers fired a four-hitter with six strikeouts and no walks and the Region 1 Blue Devils (8-4) banged out 17 hits in the rout over Region 2 Franklin.

At the plate, Summers had three doubles, a single, and drove in three runs, Carter DeJulia had three hits, including a double, and three RBIs, and Luke Distler and Gabe Titus both doubled, singled, and drove in a pair of runs.

Also, Jared Bissell hit a double, two singles, and had an RBI, Josh Divens singled and drove in a pair of runs, David Moyer hit an RBI single, and Dalton Byerly had an RBI.

Drew Kockler led Franklin (3-11) with two singles and two RBIs.

Nate Fezell (1 2/3 innings), Ryan Sandok (2 2/3), and Wyatt Hedglin combined on six strikeouts, five walks, and gave up 17 hits.

• Shenango 12, Grove City 8 — At Pat Forese Field in Grove City, the Wildcats snapped a 7-all tie by scoring five runs in the sixth inning en route to the win over GC (7-6).

Grason Hooks led Shenango at the plate with a home run, double, and four RBIs and Ben Santangelo had a double, two singles, two RBIs, and three runs scored.

Also for Shenango, Treyton Ross posted a double and a pair of singles and Joe Campoli doubled and singled.

Gennaro Leitera (3 2/3 innings), Santangelo (1 1/3), and Ross pitched for the Wildcats. They combined on seven strikeouts, two walks, and surrendered 14 hits.

Kamden Martin (three innings), Joey Hathaway (two), Ryan McElhinney (one), and Ethan Orr split time on the mound for Grove City. They whiffed five batters, walked three, and gave up 13 hits.

Paul Gubba hit three singles and drove in a run for the Eagles, Hathaway and Max Knouse both doubled, singled, and had an RBI, Bode Stevenson doubled and singled, Will Schell singled twice, and Layne Rider contributed an RBI single.

• Lowellville 13, Brookfield 2 (5 inn.) — At Cene Park in Struthers, Zak Sargent threw a one-hitter against the Warriors with three strikeouts and one walk as the Rockets picked up the win.

Liam Bartlett tripled, doubled, and drove in four runs for Lowellville, Tino Rivera-Ocasio doubled, singled, and had an RBI, and Cody Nolfi singled twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Brayden Sangregorio singled for Brookfield and Hunter Warrender and Dan Reardon were credited with the RBIs.

Warrender took the loss. He had three strikeouts, four walks, and surrendered seven runs on four hits in 1 1/3 innings.
