75 international visitors invited by Election Commission to witness Lok Sabha Elections

The Election Commission has invited 75 delegates from 23 countries to witness the General Elections, 2024 in India. These delegates will first be briefed by the Election Commissioners and then travel to different constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karanataka and Madhya Pradesh to see how elections are conducted.

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) of India has for long exemplified its commitment to hold general elections of the highest standard. The whole exercise is a symbol of electoral integrity and transparency in the country. This time the EC has invited 75 international guests from across 23 countries to witness the huge election exercise the country is witnessing.

The Global Election Management Bodies (EBMs) are entrusted with the responsibility to participate in the country’s elections. Democratic excellence has been introduced in India and the EC is continuously promoting it.

Election Visitors Program

Altogether 75 international delegates representing several EBMs and organisations from 23 countries will be here in India to witness the General Elections. Delegates from Bhutan, Mongolia, Australia, Madagascar, Fiji, Kyrgyz Republic, Russia, Moldova, Tunisia, Seychelles, Cambodia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Chile, Uzbekistan, Maldives, Papua New Guinea and Namibia will be participating in the event.

Apart from delegates from these countries, members of the International Foundation of Electoral Colleges and media teams from Bhutan and Israel will also participate. The event which begins from May 4, aims to introduce one to foreign elections.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and the 2 Election Commissioners, Gyanesh Kumar and Dr Sukhbir Singh Sandhu will address the delegates on May 5, 2024. After this the representatives would leave for a tour of 6 states, namely Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and UP. The group will move around in small groups to witness voting and related preparations. The programme will conclude on May 9,2024.
