North Korea denounces US-Japan-South Korea naval exercise
(MENAFN) North Korea has strongly criticized a recent joint naval exercise conducted by the United States, Japan, and South Korea.
In a commentary published Tuesday, North Korean news agency denounced the naval maneuvers as a provocative act that "further aggravated the serious political and military situation in the region."
The exercise, which took place from March 17 to 20 in waters off South Korea’s Jeju Island, coincided with the Freedom Shield military drills held by the U.S. and South Korea from March 10 to 20. Warships from all three nations participated, including the U.S. nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson.
The commentary noted that the exercise "revealed their sinister intention to block even the normal maritime transport of sovereign states in the region by force."
The report further asserted that the current U.S. administration continues to pursue a hostile policy toward Pyongyang, prompting North Korea to accelerate and intensify its efforts to bolster national security and safeguard regional stability.
