South Korea's President Urges Military Readiness Against North Korea Threats
(MENAFN) South Korea’s acting Leader, Han Duck-soo, has called for the country’s military to stay prepared to respond to potential threats from North Korea.
This statement came after North Korea criticized the shared naval training conducted the previous week by South Korea, Japan, along with the United States.
Han made these remarks while leading an emergency National Security Council meeting late on Monday.
During the meeting, Han emphasized the need for the military to maintain “thorough readiness” in the face of what he described as potential military threats from North Korea.
As reported by a news agency, Han stressed the importance of close cooperation with allied nations and the international community, especially through the strong South Korea-US alliance.
He also urged for diplomatic policies to be implemented in a way that protects the nation’s interests and ensures stability for the people of South Korea.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, North Korea criticized the trilateral naval drills conducted the previous week by the US, South Korea, and Japan.
Based on North Korean news agency, the country warned that any provocation or threat from “enemy states” would be met with a strong and decisive counteraction.
