Arkansas bridges: 685 classified as in poor condition, but still safe, ARDOT says
Arkansas has nearly 13,000 bridges. The Arkansas Department of Transportation has classified 685 of those as being in poor condition.
We asked ARDOT what poor condition means.
"The bridge is still safe to drive on, but performance is compromised," Dave Parker, ARDOT spokesperson, said. "Investment in rehabilitation of replacement needs to be considered."
ARDOT has created an Arkansas Bridges Dashboard to show the public information about all the bridges in the state.
5.35% of Arkansas's bridges are in poor condition. That's better than the national average of 8%.
We're displaying some of that information below. Scroll down and use the interactive maps to learn about the poor bridges in our area.
Keep in mind that poor condition doesn't mean the bridge is too dangerous to drive on, according to ARDOT.
