The Eastern Division is now under a heavy rain warning due to a forecasted severe thunderstorm activity.
The Nadi weather office states areas under the warning are an area from Navua to Korovou.
A severe thunderstorm system is developing over the interior of Viti Levu and is gradually moving eastwards.
The weather office adds these thunderstorms are expected to produce intense heavy rainfall in the next couple hours over the interior and eastern parts of Viti Levu.
There will be possible flash flooding in urban areas, especially where drainage systems may be overwhelmed.
Also, residents in these areas can expect increased risk of lightning strikes which can pose hazards to people and animals in open areas.
