Luang Prabang (VNA) – Young military officers of Vietnam and Laos engaged in an exchange on March 28 in the northern Lao province of Luang Prabang, promoting the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and his Lao counterpart Senior Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone attended the event.
Chien lauded the exchange between the young officers of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Lao People’s Army, themed “Deepening Friendship - Moving Forward Together.” He praised the relevant agencies of both armies, especially the youth organisations of the two General Departments of Politics, for their close cooperation in organising meaningful exchange activities.
He emphasised the role of the youth during the national liberation, and in implementing the Party's guidelines and the state’s policies and laws today. With strong political will and the aspirations of revolutionary youth, young people of both nations, particularly those in the military, continue to stay proactive and creative, and strive to master science and technology, deserving the successors loyal to the revolutionary cause in each country.
He expressed his hope that in the coming time, the military youth of both nations will continue to deepen their understanding of the history, significance, and importance of the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; and enhance exchanges and share experience in youth work, especially in gathering, uniting, educating, and training young people.
He expected that military youth will keep contributing to the Vietnam-Laos relationship, making their defence ties remain a bright spot and one of the most important pillars in the bilateral relationship.
On this occasion, Chien thanked the leaders of the Lao Ministry of National Defence and localities, especially Luang Prabang province, for always supporting and creating favourable conditions for the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries' military youth. He wished that in the future, the ministry and the localities will continue to support such activities.
On the evening of the same day, Chien and the Vietnamese delegation attended a wrist-tying ceremony and a campfire night as part of the exchange./.
